India Couture Week!
July 26, 2014
Wow we cannot get over how beautiful all of the pieces were at India Couture week! Here's a wrap up from the amazing week!
Sabyasachi:
The designer incorporated a lot of metallic work and used unique materials like canvases.
Rina Dhaka-It was all about bright colors!
Anju Modi-"For her couture collection this year, Modi's been smart to channel the popularity of her more avant-garde contemporaries Anamika Khanna and Sabyasachi Mukherjee, grounding their design discoveries in her respectable knowledge of Indian arts and crafts and her sound understanding of what appeals to the celebrity-struck masses."
Monisha Jaising- She took a very royal inspiration with her collection. Jaising researched "the alluring lifestyles of high-bornes [sic] from the past".
Varun Bahl-His pieces had a modern twist on "Indian-wear" staples.
Manish Arora-"Offered his bold bride five new stories: incredible iridescent sheer, prismatic festival lights, aristocratic Japanese chip embroidery, regal pearl embroidery and some signature multicoloured kitsch for the old school fans."
Gaurav Gupta-This was one of our favorite collections! His collection embraced the nocturnal goddesses for red carpet events and parties. It was filled with drapes, sheer panels and brazen cut-outs.
Rohit Bal-Ivory saris with gold details and pop-coloured sherwanis were all over the runway.
Manish Molhotra-His pieces had elaborate ivory thread-work with beige and grape-wine silks. Also, there was lots of ruby red velvet and tulle pieces.
Rimple & Harpreet Narula-They used tons of accents of gold on earthy beige and sand hues.
Sulakshana Monga-Sheer panels, intricate florals and glitter filled her collection with pops of pink!
