We are going to start a new series on our blog! We want to ask the experts in the wedding industry about what they know best. Today, we want to discuss how to get glowing skin. We decided to ask Makeup by Shilpa what she recommends to all of her brides how to get that "glow".
Makeup by Shilpa provides the highest quality hair and makeup services. She tells us, "Skincare is extremely important!! I have had so many brides come to me for trials who are using all the wrong products."
What do you recommend brides to do the month/week/night before their wedding?
"I highly recommend facials once a month for a few months before the wedding.
You should be exfoliating once a week to remove dead skin, which makes your face look fresh."
Are there any products you recommend for brides to use?
"It is imperative that you moisturize well! Find something that suits your skin type. Many women forget about their eyes. Finding the right eye moisturizer can mean the difference between cracking and creasing under your eyes and a flawless makeup application on your big day. Don't forget your lips! Moisturize, especially the night before your big day. I am pretty obsessed with Estee Lauder these days. I'm especially in love with the Advanced Night Repair. It fights signs of aging and promotes skin repair. This stuff is pretty awesome!"
Do you believe in detoxing before your big day?
"I don't necessarily promote detoxing before your big day but I do say drink plenty of water! Water cleans out your system and promotes healthy skin."
What do you tell your brides to do the day off?
"If you are planning on trying anything new on your skin, do not try it the week before your wedding. It is best to give it a try a month or two before so you can see how your skin reacts. For example, I have had a few brides who waxed their face a few days before the wedding, and they had an adverse skin reaction. On the day of, do not use any new products. Wash your face, moisturize, and your makeup artist should take care of the rest!"
Our brides have always loved working with Shilpa!
